Field Trip to Matakana

This is a follow up visit to our field trip 3 years ago – a chance to visit the Matakana Farmers’ Market in the morning, and in the afternoon at 1:30 pm to see the progress at Trish Allen’s eco-home and edible landscape, followed by a visit to the Matakana Community Garden.

Trish’s home is a non-toxic, passive solar, energy efficient house powered by photovoltaics, with solar panels for hot water, and rainwater collection tanks surrounded by vege gardens and an orchard. We will meet at Trish’s home at 15 Courtney Lane, Matakana Village at 1.30 pm for a tour followed by a cuppa, then continue on to the Matakana Community Garden at 43 Matakana Valley Road. Donations welcome on the day for our hostess. PLEASE BE ON TIME.
