Auckland Branch – Field Trip to Whangaparoa
October 27, 2018 @ 11:00 am
Minette Tonoli of Meadowsweet will share her garden of edible flowers and herbs and companion plantings followed by a visit to Dee Pigneguy’s new property ten minutes away.
Meadowsweet is open by appointment only and we begin the field trip there at 22 Shadon Place, Stanmore Bay, Whangaparaoa at 11 am.
We will each bring our own drink and lunch to share when we arrive at Dee Pigneguy’s property at 25 Walbrook Road, Manly, Whangaparaoa, about 12.30pm; Dee will provide a cup of herb tea there, before sharing her small urban garden.
You will be amazed to see how Dee has transformed this unpromising urban section covered in kikuyu and with clay soil into a productive seasonal gardening using cardboard and chips followed up with seaweed, coffee grounds, biodynamic cow poo and some compost. Indeed, a surprise awaits you. Dee has also planted up the verge as a beneficial insect garden. Over the years Dee has shared her gardening expertise with many groups, including Auckland Branch of Soil and Health on several occasions. Dee has published several books on gardening for children and nutrition for adults.
Please remember suggested Koha/Donation of $4.
